Chilli Oil

Difficulty: Easy

Serves: 2 – 3 people

Ingredients:

  • 200 ml ELAIESE Red Palm Oil
  • 2 Shallots (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp Soy Souce
  • 70 g of Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • ¼ tsp Salt
  • ¼ pinch of 5 Spice Powder

Instructions:

  1. Heat the wok over medium low heat and add 6 tbsp of red palm oil.
  2. Once the oil is hot, add in the chopped shallots and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Pour the soy sauce around the edge of the wok or pan to give it a smoky flavour. Stir fry the mixture for 2 minutes.
  4. Add the remaining red palm oil, red pepper flakes, sugar, salt and 5 spice powder. Stir fry for 2 minutes or until aromatic.
  5. Remove from heat and let it cool, then store it in an air-tight container.
